A sizzling summer

We were back at the stunning Helmingham Hall in Suffolk at the start of the month and returned to the Tythe Barn in Sproughton a few weeks later serving delicious afternoon tea followed by a hearty barbecue.

Over the weekend of the 19th and 20th July we were at the Essex Food and Drink Festival in our H Van. This was our first food festival and wow, what a great weekend. We were serving brunch dishes such as Eggs Benedict and French Toast and then for lunch, Seared Steak, Spicy Chicken, Pork Belly, Plaice or Halloumi with Sautéed Potatoes or Soba Noodles served along side some tasty salads and dressings. The weekend was a huge success with never ending queues and great comments such as “best food at the festival”.

August started with a fun wedding at the East Anglian Railway Museum, after serving canapés on the platform and throughout the trains we served a three course wedding breakfast including rump of lamb in the beautifully decorated goods shed, with a moving train as a back drop. We pride ourselves on being able to serve our food at venues with very basic or no kitchen facilities, the railway museum certainly fitted into this bracket.

 This was our sixth year at the annual Frinton Cricket Week, we catered for over 1500 covers serving four course meals, afternoon teas and evening BBQs, the sun was shining every day, feedback from both the cricket club and guests was excellent.
We’ve been busy catering for a lot of lovely weddings at our regular venues, Layer Marney Tower and East Mersea Hall as well as Haughley Park Barn, and Crows Hall in Suffolk.
Being the height of the summer we have also been catering at a number of weddings and events in marquees in beautiful gardens throughout East Anglia.
Our H Van has been rolling around Essex and Suffolk and has been used in many different ways at many different locations. Food wise we have served a number of different dishes from the van canapés such as fish and chips, curries, pancakes and ice creams. The van has also served Pimms and lemonade at drinks receptions and has been transformed into a fun and funky cocktail bar.

September and beyond 

As the summer draws to an end we still have many weddings and events to look forward to, October seems to be the new September and is becoming increasingly busy every year. 

We hope to get the H Van out on the streets again in the winter months, we are already getting emails asking when we’ll be back serving on the business park, watch this space! 
And then it’s on to the Christmas events, why not book the H Van to rock up at your home or office where we can wow your guests with your choice of food ranging from canapés to bowls.
