A description from the East Mersea Hall website

Imagine an Island...
Imagine an island off the coast of England accessible by water, air or the ancient Roman causeway known as the 'Strood'.
Here sits a historic Hall surrounded by a thousand year old moat next to a stunning medieval church.
Imagine ancient marshes full of history and romance, with oyster beds running to the shore where colonies of seals can often be seen. Imagine all this within an hour and half of central London. Imagine no more...
Our home, your celebration...David and I believe that the Hall and grounds speak for themselves. We would be delighted to guide you through how your day will unfold should you choose our home for your celebration. Our ethos is very simple – we want you and your guests to enjoy the hall and grounds and hopefully it will feel that East Mersea Hall belongs to you for the whole of your special day.
East Mersea Hall is 10 miles east of Colchester and 75 miles north of London. From Colchester take the B1025 to Mersea Island, once you have crossed the causeway (the Strood) bear left towards East Mersea. After approximately 3 miles take the first right hand turn after the village shop into Church Lane. East Mersea Hall is the first entrance on the left.
